6th January, 2016.
I wake to the sound of ascending oversized blackout blinds. The tinted floor to roof windows are exposed, revealing the glowing morning sun and the gorgeous Brissy River. It’s a perfect morning. So perfect in fact that we both dread getting out of our large comfy bed. Ordering room service breakfast for two seems like a much better option.
(One of three trays – our beautiful room service breakfast)
Around noon we venture out to explore the city. We take a free Brisbane River ferry over to South Bank. Our afternoon is filled photographing Streets Beach (the artificial beach in the centre of South Bank), going on the Brisbane Wheel ($19 Adults, $13.50 Kids), exploring the intercity tropical Rainforest Walk and of course, getting a photo with the brightly coloured Brisbane sign.
We cross the bridge over the river and spend the afternoon shopping in the Queen Street Mall. Hupa trialed his first meat pie and absolutely loved it.. so much so that he went back for seconds.
In the early evening, we drove up to Mt Coot-tha and had a romantic picnic dinner, overlooking the city and watching the sunset in the distance. It was just magical as the colours of the city sky changed and night-time time set in. It’s definitely worth taking the twenty-minute drive from the city to this amazing viewing point!
